Collaboration is a powerful tool for all small business owners, regardless of industry you are in or the type of business you have.

It is the connections you form with others, and the different ways you collaborate with those people you formed connections with, that will help you grow your business to new levels.

If you are not convinced that collaboration is really worth the time and effort, here is a story to convince you on importance of collaboration (in this case with competition to save it, grow it!)

In August of 1997, Microsoft stepped in and saved Apple, which, at the time, was on the brink of bankruptcy.

“Bill, thank you. The world’s a better place,” Jobs told Gates after the Microsoft exec agreed to make a $150 million investment in Apple.

All of this was pre-iPod and even pre-iMac. At the time, Apple was busily bleeding money and was on the verge of bankruptcy. Shortly after, Apple began the meteoric rise that has sustained it for decades. From 1998 on, Apple launched a string of successes: iMac, iBook, iPod, iTunes Store, and eventually iPhone and iPad.

Here is summary from Steve Jobs 10 years after the event

“Apple was in very serious trouble,” said Jobs. “And what was really clear was that if the game was a zero-sum game where for Apple to win, Microsoft had to lose, then Apple was going to lose.

“There were too many people at Apple and in the Apple ecosystem playing [that] game,” he explained. “And it was clear that you didn’t have to play that game, because Apple wasn’t going to beat Microsoft.

“Apple didn’t have to beat Microsoft. Apple had to remember who Apple was because they’d forgotten who Apple was.

For Microsoft, the investment meant propping up one of its greatest competitors, but it was also a new business opportunity.

Moral of the story: Collaboration is the key to Success, think Win-Win when you are collaborating. Competitor can be one of your best collaboration partner

How listening to customers completely changed the sales pitch for a cup branding agency?

Owing to the British lifestyle during the industrial revolution, tea culture has become an important part of a workplace. A tea break at a corporate office is a much-needed break employees take to unburden themselves from the stresses of contemporary life. After water, tea is the most consumed beverage across the world.

GingerCup as a cup branding agency, we executed a large number of campaigns. Every campaign was always looked at as an opportunity to advertise a brand’s objective. We saw it as a moment when facility managers would use our paper cups for its intended purpose and nothing beyond that. Essentially we thought that we were saving the money of buying paper cups for them.

However, after almost being 2 years in the market, we received the most important feedback that completely changed the marketing and sales pitch for us! The feedback was from Sumit Aggarwal, facility manager at a reputed company, changed our outlook towards our campaigns. He told us how people would look forward to receiving our paper cups during tea breaks. From fun and laughter to cheer and excitement, he said that tea breaks witnessed a boatload of emotions.

Owing to this game changing feedback, we decided to alter our sales pitch which we distributed to facility managers of other corporate offices. We told them how our company was catalyst in lightening the mood during boring office tea breaks and refreshing employees to take on the rest of the day’s tasks. Having interacted with a large number of people from different walks of life during our campaigns, we made some key observations and learnings.

We believe that in a business, a client’s opinion is paramount. You need to listen to them carefully and network with them as much as you can. If you are able to strike the right chords within the target group, half the battle is won. Listening to our clients definitely scripted our journey to success.

QuickMeet! It is an informal networking meet arranged by one of our Pro+ members and powered by LetzGain.

Our first ever QuickMeet was organized by our Bengaluru Emeralds Power Circle Member Mr. Abhijeet Jadhav from Glorious Ventures at Mustard Café , Koramangala , Bengaluru on 8th December 2018.

15 quality business owners attended the “QuickMeet Over Coffee” and they have shared 39 business requirements. The energy and enthusiasm shown by business owners are awesome in the meet.

Yesterday I was having a light chat with my 11 year old nephew about a food delicacy. And he instantly asked me, when did you last had a pizza and how much have you paid for it ! It took me a moment to think and he rather uninterruptedly told me, i used Magic Pin to get the discount and some time free pizza.

I was about to asked him, how the app works and as with any young mind of today’s time – lack of attention span, he instantly hooked on to his Jio’s Feature Phone and start watching a video. I asked him what is he watching – here came the response, learning techniques to become Pro in PUBG on YouTube.

PUBG, what is it? Here comes a quick response, it’s a game uncle which you can play on mobile as well as PC. The best part is you can play along with people across the globe.

…. Marketeers must have taken a lot of pain to promote a food discounting app, selling Jio Phones, promoting a YouTube channel and a mobile game. On top of it, they must have had a long discussion on who is their user and who is their customers and you could be an influencer for them online.

And here I am with a 11 year old toddler, who not just influenced me but ensured that I have download 2 apps on my phone and start looking more in the Jio feature phone.

The conversation left me with a question, whom should the brand communicate with?

Story of Farmer – Winning Together, The LetzGain Motto

When a newspaper reporter interviewed a farmer who grew Award-Winning Maize each year he entered his maize in the Agricultural Show, it was revealed that the farmer shared his seed with his neighbors.

Perplexed, the reporter asked, “How can you afford to share your best seed with your neighbors when they are entering their maize in competition with yours each year?”

The farmer smiled knowingly and explained, “The wind picks up pollen from the ripening maize and swirls it from field to field. If my neighbors grow inferior maize, Cross-Pollination will steadily degrade the quality of my maize.

If I am to grow good maize, I must help my neighbors grow a good crop.

”So it is with our lives. Those who want to live meaningfully and well, must help enrich the lives of others.

For the value of a life, is measured by the lives it touches. And those who choose to be happy, must help others find happiness.

For the welfare of each is bound up with the welfare of all.
